The Green Army will look to continue their solid start to the season by progressing past the First Qualifying Round of the FA Vase for the first time this coming Saturday.

However, it is a tough task in front of them as they host Midland Football League Division 1 Heath Hayes who currently sit 6th in their division. Heath Hayes have started this campaign with 3 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses in which they have scored 19 goals and conceded 14. This start includes an impressive away victory at Ilkeston Town as well as high scoring draws against Lichfield City and Brocton.

The last time the 2 teams met was back in the Midland Combination Premier Division 2008/09 campaign when Coton suffered home and away defeats to Hayes (3-1 H & 2-1 A). A lot of time has passed since then and both teams will be looking to progress in this competition. This is Cotons third outing in the FA Vase with all three of those fixtures taking place at New Mill Lane. Their inaugural season in the competition saw them bow out to an impressive Nuneaton Griff side 8-1, with Aaron Cartwright scoring Cotons first ever goal in the FA Vase. Cotons second appearance was a more competitive affair but again they were defeated 3-1 against a strong Kirby Muxloe side, with Josh Sherrington scoring that day.

Coton will have a full strength squad to select from and Rob Masefield will have the difficult job of naming 16 players to go out and give a good account of themselves against higher division opposition.
